The Bay Area Rescue Mission will give complete holiday meals to impoverished families so they can cook a wonderful meal and enjoy the holiday together in their home.

Richmond (December 21, 2021) – More than 800 families who could not afford a decent meal this Christmas, will be blessed with a complete dinner to cook and serve at their family dinner table on this very special holiday. The boxes of food include a turkey or ham, pinto beans, rice, potatoes, green beans, and of course, cranberry sauce. Each family box of food is valued at approximately $40. Whether or not these families have gifts under the tree, or even a Christmas tree at all, we know they will at least be able to celebrate with a healthy and delicious home-cooked meal. It’s our way to show our ‘Love without Limits’ while emphasizing the importance of a strong family bond. Bay Area Rescue Mission’s, Community Christmas Meals is an annual tradition we’ve been sharing with the community for more than 40 years.

Bram Begonia, President and CEO of Bay Area Rescue Mission credited the donors for making this possible. “We are grateful to the many individuals and businesses like Richmond Wholesale that gave us the food to distribute to families in need in the community. It is such a joy to see individuals knock on our door with two turkeys in hand, determined to bless those who would otherwise do without on Christmas. Though we see a lot of fear, pain, and suffering here at Bay Area Rescue Mission, we also get to witness the compassion and kindness of every-day people who are determined to make a difference in large and small ways. We get to experience the real meaning of Christmas through their generosity!”

Struggling families began pre-registering online on December 1st for a scheduled time to pick up their ‘Box of Hope’. Families who have not yet registered can do so until noon on December 22. Distribution is set for:

• Thursday, December 23rd
• 8:30am to 1:00 pm
• 123 Macdonald Avenue, Richmond, CA

The media is welcome to come celebrate this season of goodwill and share in the joy as families receive their Christmas dinners.
