A former resident of the Bay Area Rescue Mission finds nationwide success and returns to share her insight with those still struggling.

April Mason was a young mother fleeing domestic violence. Now she’s a best selling author and internet celebrity who will share her story of triumph with current homeless residents

Richmond (July 27, 2022) – April Mason was just 24 years old with three very young children when she fled an abusive relationship with nowhere to go. An Oakland native, she came to the Bay Area Rescue Mission seeking refuge. She had no skills. No job. No confidence.

Flash forward two and a half decades later: April Mason is now the author of several books including a #1 best -seller, a feminine life style coach, and an internet celebrity with 500,000 followers. She is A TEDx and Rick Ross Boss Up Conference speaker and has been featured in countless magazines such as Essence. Now living in Atlanta, she has her own internet talk shell show and is currently in negotiations for a new TV show and a movie based on her latest best-selling book ‘Identity Switch: Becoming the woman who gets what she wants”. April will portray herself in the movie.

How did April make this incredible transformation? She says she was living at the Bay Area Rescue Mission when she began to launch her idea of how to re-invent herself with one blue suit that cost $29.95.

April is flying from Atlanta to share her inspirational story with current residents of the homeless shelter. It is a talk sure to motivate and build self-confidence.

The media is welcome to join us for her talk and afterward for dinner. Our chef is planning a special menu for her visit that we will share with all of our guests – both residents and those who live on the street.
