1,000 Backpacks to Our Neighborhood Kids in Need

Lead:
Twenty years ago, the Bay Area Rescue Mission gave 20 backpacks at our back-to-school backpack giveaway. Today, we provide 1000 backpacks to children full of much-needed school supplies for the year.

Body:
1000 “Gifts of Love” to Children in our Neighborhood Given By the Bay Area Rescue Mission: Thanks to Chevron’s contributions, we have been able to supply a year’s worth of school supplies to our neighboring and shelter-based children. We hope to set children up to succeed as they start the school year with excitement that they have everything they need. We hope that these “Gifts of Love” bring relief to parents as they will have one less thing to worry about, especially during a pandemic. This event gives the Bay Area Rescue Mission community a sense of belonging and a way to express children’s importance.

Body Paragraph:
The Bay Area Rescue Mission is a 501©(3) non-profit organization intentionally located in the heart of Richmond, California, where it serves impoverished men, women, and children 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As the community’s largest privately funded provider of integrated services, we offer various emergency and long-term services, including food, clothing, shelter, recovery programs, life skills and job skills training, job placement, family reconciliation, and counseling. Each year, we serve more than 70,000 people and offer 1.2 million meals and 82,000 nights of shelter.

The Bay Area Rescue Mission has a vital role in the city as a valuable resource to both the homeless and those struggling to make ends meet. We are unrelenting in our commitment and dedication to the people of this community.
