Abused by those who were supposed to love her…homeless with 3 children. April had no one to help but you and God…

Today, a homeless, abused woman is an author, women’s advocate and inspirational speaker. Here is April’s story.

Your secure online gift plays a vital part in saving and changing lives like April’s.

Fleeing an abusive relationship, April and her three children went to live with an aunt. When that didn’t work out, she found shelter at the Rescue Mission with people who made her feel like family!

“Being at the Bay Area Rescue Mission was a godsend. I learned discipline and gained a true relationship with the Lord.”

Using the resources available to her here at the Rescue Mission, April began to build a firmer foundation for her life and her children’s. “I began to lean on God and not try to figure things out all the time.”

Just four months after she came to the Rescue Mission, April got her very first job in San Francisco and she and her children moved into their own apartment.

Eleven years after she first walked into the Rescue Mission homeless and lost, April returned.

Now an author, women’s advocate, and an inspirational speaker, she’s doing free workshops for the women in our program. “I tell them they have everything they need to succeed; they just need to find it and cultivate it.”
