Mobile Outreach
Have you ever wondered if there was a way to get homeless men, women and children off of the street and into a safe haven where they can find out how much God loves them? You can stop wondering now. The Bay Area Rescue Mission has a program that is already being used by God to accomplish this task and it may be the exact vehicle that you or your church is looking for if you desire to make an impact in the lives of the homeless for Jesus’ sake.
Introducing: Bay Area Rescue Mission’s Mobile Outreach
This fresh and exciting outreach was designed to address both the physical and spiritual needs of the homeless. In short, teams of volunteers assemble several times monthly to visit the impoverished in various locations and encampments throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. During each outing, volunteers will have multiple opportunities to meet, listen to, pray for and (Lord willing) share the gospel with the desperately needy.
Our Mobile Outreach unit (affectionately known as “MO”) accompanies our group on each outing and is readily equipped with Bibles, food packs, water bottles, personal hygiene kits, warm clothing, and “Coupons for Care,” which include maps to the Bay Area Rescue Mission. Needless to say, this makes distributing life-saving supplies to those in need and providing immediate transportation to the Bay Area Rescue Mission very convenient for any who might be interested in seeking the help and support needed to recover from homelessness.
As we have begun to serve the homeless, we have recognized the importance of partnership. We have the privilege of partnering with the Oakland Police Department's C-CARE -- visiting common gathering places for the homeless -- Project Homeless Connect: San Francisco, Oakland and Contra Costa County, -- joining other businesses and non-profit service providers to offer a "One-Stop-Shop" for the homelss to receive personalized care.
